Dietetics

Good nutrition helps fuel your body. The foods you eat supply the nutrients your body needs to maintain your brain, muscle, bone, nerves, skin, blood circulation, and immune system.

Dietetics is the science of nutrition for improving health and treating diseases/conditions by educating and providing practical, personalized advice to clients, patients, caregivers and other health professionals.

Scientific studies have shown how a change in our diet can help prevent or control a variety of health problems.

In the Scandinavian Medical Centre’s Dietetics department, our dietitian provides advice on both general healthy eating for people of different ages, as well as nutrition in specific conditions such as malnutrition and nutritional deficiencies, overweight, diabetes, cancer, celiac disease, heart disease, other acute or chronic illnesses, mental health conditions such as eating disorders, depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and food allergies or intolerances.

Our Dietetics department also provides advice, education and support for nutritional interventions in areas such as autism for which clinical evidence is still emerging.
